Bus Poems #2 (or what I post when I can't be bothered to do anything else)

Don't

Don't look
Live
But not vicariously through others
Not through sites and screens
Not through pixelated mouthfuls
Of food we'd rather photograph
Than enjoy
Because we digest life for all it has to offer
And cast away the shell
And string the pearl
Around our necks
Because that's what we're doing
That's what I'm doing right now
Materialising the immaterial
Making memories into something
You can accidentally delete
Making stories commonplace
Because Polaroids and films
No longer collate on reels
They are every meeting with friends
Every meal
Every moment of life
That you should be breathing
Not wearing like a badge
Because those who have to prove happiness
Are the ones who are forcing it
Because when the pictures are burnt
And the phones are lost
So will you be.

Well, that was fucking dramatic.
